Meet our two new apprentices

DES pride themselves on their apprenticeship scheme ensuring employees have the chance to learn life-long skills whilst studying for a qualification.

Our apprentices work alongside a Project Manager to ensure their full potential can be reached, learning a variety of skills ranging from involvement with the early stages of a project to the after care.

Here are our two latest editions and their views on their first few weeks with us:

Finlay Greenwood

I joined DES on the 4th September and my passion to become an electrician stemmed from working alongside my dad in the building industry. I worked with him onsite which gave me some valuable experience to start my career in something I’ve always wanted to do.

I chose to join DES as it became apparent whilst looking around my local area and asking people I know; this electrical organisation is by far the best company to work for.

My first few weeks with DES have been enjoyable. My project manager and the employees onsite have made me feel welcome and they are teaching me new initiative skills that I can use throughout my apprenticeship.

My apprenticeship with DES started on the 4th September and I feel as though my time so far has been a success.  Prior to applying for my current position, I had a look on the DES website and I was intrigued by the wide variety of large electrical jobs DES had recently completed. I took a great deal of interest to this as I felt as though this line of work is differently something I want to get involved in.

I have been working away with the company for the first couple of weeks which has been a new experience for me. I have been shown around the site I’ll be currently working on and how to fix stage one & two fittings. I have had a hands-on approach with a variety of tasks I’ve been given as I feel this is a great opportunity.
