First secondary school to meet Passivhaus standard
Lower Running Costs
Very low carbon footprint

Harris Academy Sutton

Harris Academy Sutton is the largest Passivhaus school in the UK.
The new school on Chiltern Road has been designed for 1275 pupils including sixth form, with a high standard of accommodation providing for long-term flexibility and curriculum development. The building has been designed and built to Passivhaus standard, to meet the council’s ambitions for an excellent school environment combined with very low energy consumption.
It is also part of a wider masterplan for the intended London Cancer Hub (LCH), a new life science innovation cluster focused on cancer research and treatment, situated on the former Sutton Hospital site.
Choosing a Passivhaus design provides pupils and staff with a healthy, optimised learning environment that benefits from the excellent air quality you get with Passivhaus standard buildings, as well as meeting the local authority’s requirements to minimise operational carbon
