DES Services Group is thrilled to announce its selection by Willmott Dixon to deliver the electrical installation for the Greater Brighton Metropolitan College's extensive redevelopment project. This initiative aims to transform the college into a key regional training facility, benefitting young people and career-switchers and providing local businesses with a sustainable pipeline of skilled workers.
A New Face for the College
The project includes an extension of an existing car park, which will serve as a new 'shop front' for the college. This will be set within a large public space featuring secure bike storage for staff, students, and visitors. The redevelopment's first phase has already seen a new public plaza and entrance area opening.
Sustainable and Innovative Design
The campus will feature bespoke secure compounds for cycle parking in collaboration with Broxap Street Furniture and Willmott Dixon Construction. The storage will accommodate more than 100 bicycles and will be designed with galvanised steel frames clad in FSC European Redwood. The larger of the two-cycle stores will also feature a fob-access single-leaf secure gate.
Funding and Economic Impact
The multi-million pound redevelopment project has received a significant boost with a Local Growth Funding Grant from the Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), Coast to Capital. This grant underscores the vital role the new facilities will play in propelling the region's economic growth.
State-of-the-Art Facilities
The redevelopment will feature state-of-the-art studios and classrooms, specifically designed for creative and digital specialisms. It will also offer updated facilities and improved public access to the college's other subject provisions on-site.
Utilising DES Expertise
The project will leverage DES's industry-leading expertise in electrical installations. We have completed the design, and coordinated in Revit – BIM level 2, and installation works are set to commence in April 2023.
We are incredibly excited to be a part of this transformative project and look forward to contributing to the future of education and skills training in the region.
