DES Energy have recently installed a project alongside @WillmottDixon to reduce the carbon emissions from 4 public leisure centres across Oxford. DES have been selected to help deliver a £9.5m decarbonisation programme, which sees four of the city’s leisure centres reduce their emissions by converting from fossil fuels to water and air source heat pumps. The programme sees water and air source heat pumps installed at:
• Barton Leisure Centre
• Ferry Leisure Centre
• Leys Pool and Leisure
• Hinksey Outdoor Pool
The work is a key part of Oxford City Council’s aim to become Zero Carbon across its own estate and operations by 2030, with leisure centres responsible for around 40% of the Council’s building carbon emissions.
DES have provided complete battery storage installations including supply and arrangement of battery modules; inverters; G99 system and relay protection approval; and connection to the LV distribution system.
DES have also installed the battery systems in suitable fully self-contained enclosures (e.g. containerised modules).
The new battery storage installations meet the design and performance criteria as detailed within the DES Energy specification, and as stipulated by Salix Finance Ltd.
