University of Greenwich – Dreadnought Building
The Dreadnought building on the University of Greenwich campus is a grade II listed building in which a £25m redevelopment is underway.
The renovation of the building houses space for students, staff and visitors to go to in a social capacity. Alongside this a 500 person-capacity bar, a state-of-the-art gym, computer break-out areas and learning spaces have been built to accommodate students learning requirements.
DES were involved as part of Early Engagement to help deliver the project, applying expert knowledge into maintaining the characteristics of the grade II listed building. Willmott Dixon started discussing the project with DES from ‘stage 3’. The project was technically challenging giving the complexity of the design. This early involvement at the University of Greenwich project allowed us to provide expert advise while the design was still being developed.
